Use of Dapagliflozin
Dapagliflozin (BMS-512148) is a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
Dapagliflozin effect
Dapagliflozin works by inhibiting sodium-glucose transporter 2 (SGLT2), a protein in the kidneys that enables glucose to be reabsorbed into the bloodstream. This allows excess glucose to be excreted through the urine, thereby improving blood sugar control without increasing secretion. Use of this drug requires patients with normal renal function and is contraindicated in patients with moderate to severe renal insufficiency. This product is used alone or in combination with metformin, pioglitazone, glimepiride, and other drugs, can significantly reduce HbA1c and fasting blood glucose in patients with type 2 diabetes, the incidence of adverse reactions is similar to placebo, and the risk of hypoglycemia is low, which can be alleviated weight.
Dapagliflozin is comparable in efficacy to several newer antidiabetic drugs, including dipeptidyl peptidase inhibitors, and can slightly lower blood pressure and body weight.
